The United Power of Electricians.

Fly by night. Shoddy. Unreliable. Charlatan. Unfortunately, these terms end up describing too many contractors on too many construction jobs. Sometimes you get lucky, but all too often, choosing a contractor from a random listing can leave you worse for the wear. Conversely, LMCC member contractors are all cut from the same cloth.

WHEN YOU CHOOSE A UNION CONTRACTOR, YOU ARE GUARANTEED THE MOST HIGHLY QUALIFIED, TRAINED AND RELIABLE WORKFORCE FOR YOUR CONSTRUCTION PROJECT.

LMCC member contractors abide by a Code of Excellence, ensuring that their work is the most up-to-date, safe and reliable, and that their electricians follow the most stringent and innovative practices and methodologies. LMCC members are dedicated to evolving the electrical trade for everyone’s benefit. Our contractors seek to enhance the industry through ongoing learning of current and new technologies, innovative research, performance standards, progressive labor relations and workforce recruiting and training.

BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH UNION CONTRACTORS

BEST TRAINING

Our union members are the best-trained electricians in the industry, completing over 10,000 hours of classroom and apprentice work prior to receiving their Journeyman status. To remain a Journeyman electrician, annual training is required to stay at the forefront of the latest technology, code changes and safety procedures. LMCC is a major sponsor of the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee that offers standardized training to all electricians in the U.S. with the mission of providing the industry with the highest quality workers possible.

NECA Declaration of Guiding Principles for Partnership Code of Excellence with IBEW
Members of NECA declare and proclaim the activities of partnering and Code of Excellence with IBEW are intended to result in well-paying jobs to satisfy the economic needs of families including food, housing, health care, education, recreation and economic security in retirement. The purpose of partnering is also to fulfill emotional and physical needs through skilled productive work, respect, dignity and inclusion on challenging yet safe projects. Partnering will also allow labor and management to share new experiences with proper recognition and appreciation to all who participate.

Drug Policy
Effective June 24, 1998 all NECA/IBEW members began participating in a new policy for drug testing. All management, employees and even shop owners agree to undergo drug testing for reasonable cause and post-accident scenarios in addition to pre-employment and random tests. Every LMCC member must have at least one test performed every two years.

All LMCC employers and employees are responsible to ensure safety in matters concerning the employer's and/or customer's facilities, equipment and employees. The employer is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace. It is recognized that an employee under the influence of drugs or alcohol while working can compromise safety and productivity. It is further recognized that the employer is required to maintain a drug-free workplace when working on federal government contracts under the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 as well as various private sector contracts. The purpose of this policy and program is to establish and promote a safe, efficient and productive working environment by providing a workplace and a workforce free from drugs, alcohol and controlled substances.

Lobbyists for Safety and Quality
LMCC has a full-time lobbyist who works specifically with the NECA executive and the national office "to inject expert knowledge and strategic advice into the association’s skills and projects, ensuring its industry leadership activities in labor market and skill development are recognized by government and attract the necessary support." This position also ensures that the entire electrical industry is providing safe and quality installations to the general public in all facets.
